Please join us on December 11th at Ethan Cohen Gallery for the screening of Making Visible by Edwin Schlossberg, followed by a discussion between Edwin Schlossberg and Laura Whitcomb, author of Dilexi: A Gallery And Beyond.

Ethan Cohen Gallery is pleased to present a screening of Edwin Schlossberg’s 1969 film Making Visible, which is part of The Dilexi Series, a collection of groundbreaking and radical video and and film works made for television created by an array of influential artists. Broadcasted in 1969, The Dilexi Series was one of the earliest projects where artists used the television to disseminate their work to a wide public audience. Making Visible is a brilliant essayistic look at communications theory and the invisible potential of the television medium.

Following the screening of Making Visible, there will be an illuminating discussion between artist Edwin Schlossberg and Laura Whitcomb, curator and writer, moderated by Melik Kaylan, journalist and cultural critic.

Whitcomb’s recent book Dilexi: A Gallery & Beyond  will be available at the gallery for the event.

Please join us on December 11, 2021 at Ethan Cohen Gallery on 251 West 19th Street. The screening will take place at 3 PM, and the discussion will take place at 3:30 PM. This event will coincide with the closing of Edwin Schlossberg’s solo exhibition with the gallery, Once Upon A Time When Everyone Was Conscious.
