This series consists of dual interpretations: each distinct title appears twice, once on a 4’ x 3’ panel and once on a 3’ x 2’ piece. Presented on aluminum panels treated with Scotch Lite, Deep See Poems incorporates hand-drawing with silkscreen. The gallery installation of this exhibit included 12 8’ sonotubes, designed by the artist, painted black with dowels securing each 4’ x 3’ panel. The 3’ x 2’ panels were mounted to the gallery walls.
Also included in this series are 14 untitled black and white photographs and a special edition book of poems. Images of water and sand and the flow between the two illustrate the nautical reference in the series’ title. These are not individual photographs but a series of continuous shots on the negative strips of film. The poems that appear on the aluminum panels are repeated in the corresponding book.
The Deep See Poems panels were created and exhibited in 1985.
