The works in this series represent the earliest work of art included in any public exhibit. Unlike the other shows of the artist’s work, in which pieces were similar in media, dimensions, and format, the works in the series Visual Presence range from three-foot sheets of vinyl to on inch plexiglass cubes. In much of this series, Letrasign and/or Letraset (two types of applied lettering) were used. Letrasign adheres to a surface like a tape and can be pulled off. Letraset is affixed to a surface by pressure applied to the wax paper-like backing of the letter.
The Visual Presence series includes works that have not been exhibited. Each of these shares a similarity with one or more of the exhibited works, specifically similar media, technique or date of creation.
Visual Presence includes works created from 1964 to 1978.
